HERMAN QUADE

SILEX – Services for Herman F. Quade, 66, of Silex, will be
10 a.m. Wednesday at the Silex Presbyterian Church. The
Rev Ed Craft will officiate. Burial will be in the Auburn Cem.
Mr. Quade was born Sept. 8, 1911 at Clayton to Herman W and
Matilda Bauer Quade. He was married Oct 1, 1932 to Velma
Adams and she survives.
Also surviving is one son Lloy Quade of Silex; one daughter
Selma Williams of Williamsburg; one brother Walter Quade
of

He was a member and elder of Silex Presbyterian Church and
an officer of North Lincoln Westminster Parrish. He was a member
of Silex Lodge AS & AM No 75 He served 4 times as
Worshipful Master of the Lodge. He was also a member of Silex
Order of the Eastern Star No. 80 and served six times as Worthy
Patron for that organization. He was a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree
Mason and a retired farmer.
Visitation will be after 2 pm Tuesday at the Mudd Funeral Home
at Silex. Masonic Services will be at 8 pm Tuesday at the Mudd
Funeral Home at Silex. Contributions may be made to the Cancer
Fund or the Silex Presbyterian Church.

Velma Grace Quade, 92, of Silex, died Saturday, July l, 2006, at

preceded her in death in August, 1978.
Surviving are one son Lloy William Quade and wife, Jane
of Silex; one daughter, Selma

four grandchildren Hannah L. Purcell and
husband, Jeff of Silex; Emma G.
Henry and husband Michael
of Silex; Cynthia A. Williams,
of O’Fallon and John F.
Williams of O’Fallon; four
great grandchildren Bryce
Hoffmann, Brooke Hoffmann,
Jake Henry and Kyle Purcell
all of Silex.
Preceding her in death were granddaughter Sarah J. Quade;
brother Alvin Adams and sister Viola Wilder.
She moved from
she moved to the Silex
area. She was a graduate of
50+ year member of Order of
Eastern Star – Silex Chapter #80
where she had served as Worthy Matron and she also had
served as the District Deputy Grand Matron of the 29th
District.
She was a 50+ year member of
the Homemaker Extension Club
in Silex and was a past board
member for TACOA. In 1956
she served on a committee that helped establish the first
County
hospital. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary
holding many offices including president. She was a member
of the Silex Presbyterian
Church.

J. QUADE, 16

Services for Sarah Jane Quade, 16, of Silex were held
Sunday, April 14, at the Silex Presbyterian Church.
Rev. Eric Keller officiated with intermentin

Miss Quade was pronounced dead early Friday morning
after an automobile accident.
She was born Dec 15, 1968, in
and Mary Jane Miller Quade of Silex, how survive.
Other survivors include two sister, Hanna Quade and
Emma Quade, both of the home; grandparents, Mrs. Velma
Quade and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller, all of Silex.
Miss Quade was a member of the Silex Presbyterian Church,
was active in the Presbyterian Youth Group. She was a
student at Silex high School, a member of the High School
Student Council, FHA, Silex Yearbook Staff, girls softball
team, 4-H and was on the honor roll.
Memorials may be made to the Silex Presbyterian Church
or the Student Council Scholarship Fund. Pallbearers were
Jim Lingua, Charles Privett, Bill Lingua, Terry Fuerst,
Ed Skelly and David Quigley.

EDWARD W. MILLER

services for Edward W. Miller, 81, of Silex, were
held
at 10
a.m. Saturday at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in
Millwood with Father John Mayer officiating. Music for the
service
was provided by Debbie Mudd, organist; and Matt Zeiss,
who sang
“Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden”.
Burial was in
the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Mr.
Miller died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at the St. Luke’s

Parks Miller. He was married to Mary L. Heltzell Feb. 22, 1941.
She
preceded him in death Aug. 9, 1991.
Mr.
Miller was a lifelong resident of the Silex area
working
as a
heavy equipment operator since 1936. He
was a member and
worked
for the I. U. O. E. Local Union #513 in
heavy
equipment operator for 40 years. He was
a member of the
St.
Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Knights of
Council #2009 of Millwood.
He
served in the United States Army during WWII and was a
member of
the VFW Post #5553 of
fishing,
playing cards and his family.
Survivors
include two sons, Robert (Bobby) Miller and wife Rita, of
five
daughters, Eska Wink and husband Ralph of
Zeiss and
husband Mike of Silex, Mary Jane Quade and husband Lloy
of Silex, Jodie Dillman and husband
Ron of St Charles and Kay

was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob Miller, Herman Miller,
