From the papers of Mary Omahundro Hutt Walker

Mrs. Isabel CRENSHAW WILSON was born near New Salem, December 12, 1836, and died April 22, 1917 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George M. HALL, with whom she had made her home for a number of years. She was married to John W. (Wallace) WILSON Nov. 13, 1856. To this union three children were born: Joel Alexander, who died at age 5, Wallace WILSON,and Mrs. George HALL, of Troy. Besides her two children, she leaves two grandchildren, Kathleen HALL and Edward WILSON, also five sisters, by whom she will be sadly missed . Her husband died August 25, 1899.

Her kindness of heart was shown in giving motherly care to her neice and nephew, Mrs Riley BIRKHEAD and John M.WILSON, whom she raised from early chidhood.

She was a kind, patient and loving mother, always bore all her hardships herself that she might save others. She had been in poor health for the last ten years but had borne her suffering patiently. She will live long in the memory of the many who have enjoyed her great hospitality. She had a kindly welcome for all who came her way.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mr. & Mrs. HALL Tuesday afternoon by I. T. H. Nash after which the interment was at the city cemetery.

Isabel Crenshaw 1837-1917

note: Mrs. Wilson is buried in the Troy City Cem, however Mr. Elmer Bockhorst who died last week (July 2003) at 101 years old, owned some of the old Wilson property. When I inquired of him about the Wilsons who owned the property adjoining my Hutt ancestors place and the location of the Hutt cemetery, he told me the location of the cemetery and that Mr. John Wallace Wilson and his child was buried on his property with no stones. I had wanted to go back and speak with Mr. Bockhorst, but he passed away before I was able to visit him. The Bockhorst Property where the Mr. Wilson and son are buried and the adjoining property where the HUTT Cem. is, is on Frenchman's Bluff Rd. Troy. Mo. j.g.]
