Edna Sheets Wiley

 

Edna Sheets Wiley was born in Lincoln County, Mo. On July 2, 1906, the daughter of Benjamin and Charlotte Withaus Sheets.  She passed away at the Medicalodge in Troy May 20, 1981 at the age of 74 years 10 months and 18 days.

 

In 1951 she was married to George Wiley.  They had no children.

 

At an early age, Edna was very active in the Grace Methodist Church at Truxton, Mo.  She was a school teacher by profession having started her career in the country schools near Truxton.  From there she taught at Wentzville, Wellsville and for many years in Kansas City School system, retiring in 1972.

 

She was a devoted daughter and took care of her mother for many years in her home at Gardner, Kansas.

 

Due to her own failing health, Edna made her home at the Medicalodge in Troy for the last several years.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents and two brothers, Dalmas and Leowe Sheets.

 

She is survived by one brother, Ralph Sheets of Elsberry; several nieces; nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral services were held from the McCoy-Paul Funeral Home in Troy Friday, May 22, 1981.  Interment was in the Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, Kansas,  Saturday, May 23, 1981.
