Funeral services for William WERMUTH, lifelong resident of Troy, were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 1987 from the Zion United Church of Christ. In the absence of the pastor, Rev. Robert Hicks, a family friend, the Rev. Lester Zacher conducted the service. Mark POWELSON and Lester SCHLOEMAN were the soloists and the pianist was Howard WOODS.

Interment was in the Troy E & R Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim POWELSON, Steve POWELSON, Donald HEITMAN, Paul BROZ, and Raymond BROZ. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin JEFFERSON, Milton BECKMAN, Oscar MUENSTERMAN, Lester SCHLOEMAN, Paul WEINRICH, and Raymond WEINRICH.

Mr. WERMUTH passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, early Saturday morning, December 26, 1987. He was 71 years of age.

He was born near Troy, March 13, 1916, the son of Paul and Katherine BAUMANN WERMUTH. He was married July 17, 1937 to Miss Carolyn POWELSON. Mrs. WERMUTH survives. He is also survived by two sons, Robert WERMUTH and his wife, Betty and Carl WERMUTH, all of Troy; one daughter, Ruth Ann and her husband, Edward BROWN of Kennesaw, Georgia; one sister, Mrs. Margaret BROZ of Wentzville; two grandsons, two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren, two aunts, Mrs. Dora BAUMANN of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Lydia BAUMANN of St. Louis; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Reed POWELSON; two brothers-in-law, Bill POWELSON and his wife, Peg of Moscow Mills, Louis and his wife, Pauline POWELSON of St. Charles, and one sister-in-law, Lula V. HEITMAN and her husband, Clarence of Hawk Point; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and innumerable friends.

Mr. WERMUTH was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ. He was a member and Past Master of the Moscow Mills AF and AM Lodge, No. 558; of the Moscow Mills Senior Citizens.

He was retired from the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation of St. Louis and was a member of the Aerospace District 837 Retirement Club, St. Louis. He was a former member of the Troy Auxiliary Police Department and was a security guard at the Buchanan High School for 25 years. He also served on the City Council for eight years.

Masonic Services for Mr. WERMUTH were held at 8 o’clock Monday evening at the Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home. Dennis Hammack was the Acting Master. Members of both the Moscow Mills and Troy lodges participated.

Memorials are being made to the Zion UCC Building Fund and the Moscow Mills Masonic Lodge.
