WELCH. -- In Lincoln county, Mo., January 25, 1866, William M. Welch, in the 72d year of his age.  The deceased was a native of Virginia, and emigrated to Missouri and settled in Lincoln county in 1836. He was for forty years or more a member of the Methodist Church, and always enjoyed the respect and confidence of the pious and good for his strict integrity, the simplicity and unobtrusiveness of his manners, and his deep and steady piety. He was uniformly the most consistent, devoted and pious, man, whom the writer of this feeble tribute, to his memory, ever knew. His faith, which was as ever-present and setting principle, was nothing less than an unwavering confidence in the world's Redeemer. As might have been expected from a life of such deep and perennial piety, his death was peaceful, triumphant and happy. Truly it has been said that--
"The chamber where a good man meets his fate Is privileged beyond the common walks of life; Quite on the verge of heaven." W.
