Obituary for Eugene H. Welch (d1927)

DEATH OF EUGENE H. WELCH

After an illness of several months, Eugene H. WELCH died in the state hospital at Fulton Monday, May 23, 1927 at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 8 days. He was born and raised in Troy and lived here all of his life. He was a carpenter and a contractor, a good workman and an honest man. As a builder, he was interested in more large contracts here than any man in the same line that has ever lived in town. His reputation for fairness and the strictest integrity was universal with all who ever knew him. We are glad to testify to these matters, because our friend and fellow citizen richly deserved the good name that he bore in the community.

Mr. WELCH leaves two brothers and one sister to mourn his departure. His remains were brought to his old home in Troy for interment. The funeral is being conducted in Troy Methodist church, while this issue of the Free Press is being printed. Peace to the ashes of an honest man, "the noblest work of God."

[Contributor’s note:
