John August WEITKAMP was born August 2, 1907 in Lincoln County, near Troy, Mo., the son of John Henry and Kate SCHMIDT WEITKAMP. He passed away in the Medicalodge, Troy, Mo., Wednesday afternoon, May 16, 1984. He was 76 years, 8 months and 26 days of age.

On August 8, 1946 he was united in marriage to Miss Ada SPIRES.

Mr. WEITKAMP was preceded in death by one brother, Oscar WEITKAMP, his sisters: Mary ECSTEIN, Gussie WEITKAMP, Carrie WITT, Amanda WEITKAMP, Laura WEITKAMP and an infant sister. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ada, of their residence in Troy, one brother, Fred WEITKAMP of Wentzville, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Oscar WEITKAMP of Hermann, fifteen nephews and nieces, a number of great-nephews and nieces, other relatives and many friends.

Mr. WEITKAMP was baptized and confirmed in the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, and remained a faithful member throughout his lifetime.

Mr. WEITKAMP was an industrious farmer until his retirement a few years ago. He and Mrs. WEITKAMP moved to town after his retirement. During the past few years, Mr. WEITKAMP had various infirmaties, to which many would have given in, but he was strong in his determination to do for himself as long as he could. When he could no longer do for himself, his faithful wife carried out his wishes and did all she could for him.

She and all the rest of his family and his friends will long honor the memory of Mr. WEITKAMP.

Funeral services were held from the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, at 10 o’clock Saturday morning, May 19, 1984, conducted by the pastor the Rev. Allen C. Minor. Mrs. Arthur Schemmer was the organist and Lester Schloemann was the soloist.

Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Casket bearers were Bob ANDERSON, Don LIPSEY, Buck CHANDLER, Fred GERDIMAN, Roland BOUSCHER and Edwin HIMMEL.

Visitation was at the Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
