Obituary for Ernie William Weitkamp (1910-1985)

Ernie William WEITKAMP, born November 29, 1910 to August and Ida WEITKAMP in Lincoln County near Moscow Mills, Mo., passed into the presence of his God, Sunday, November 24, 1985 at his farm in rural Wright City, Mo.

He was a life-long resident of Lincoln County attending school at Owen Station School in rural Moscow Mills. He was also a lifetime member of Friedens-Peace United Church of Christ of Moscow Mills.

On October 16, 1948, he married Mary Jane (KNOX) at the Femme Osage E. and R. Church in Femme Osage, Mo.

Ernie was a farmer all of his life spending the last 33 years on his farm in rural Wright City. He continued farming until his health would not permit him to. He loved the earth and working close to it. He will be remembered as a man of his word, one who would reach out and help his fellow man, and a man of great courage.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, four brothers: William, Amiel, Edwin and August.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Jane of the home, his son, Marvin E. SCHUBERT and his wife, Rosalee, their three children, Shelly, Michael and Amy of rural Wright City; two sisters, Anna NAU of Moscow Mills and Amanda WESTERMAN of Bellflower; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation for Mr. WEITKAMP was held Monday, Nov. 25 at the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, Mo. The Rev. Larry Donelson officiated. Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Mo. Mrs. Mary Margaret Meyer was the organist and played "A Mansion Over the Hilltop", "How Great Thou Art" and "This World Is Not My Home".

Memorials may be made to Friedens United Church of Christ or the Hospice Care Unit at St. Lukes West Hospital.

The WEITKAMP Family was served by the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home of Troy, Mo.
