Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Walker (1851-1928)
Uncited clipping.
From the papers of Mary Omahundro Hutt Walker

[hand written. This is Mary O. Hutt Walker's mother-in-law. Sounds as though she was also a WALKER.]

Mary Elizabeth WALKER daughter of Joseph and Martha SHAW WALKER was born Feb. 1, 1851 at the WALKER homestead near Osceola, Mo. Here she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Lewis WALKER March 23, 1871. Mr.and Mrs. WALKER came to Lincoln County to live about 1874. She united with the church when only a girl in her early teens. After she came to Lincoln County to live she united with the Baptist Church at New Hope during Rev. Charles Mitchell's meetings. Later, in December 1898 she, having made her home here, united with the church at Sugar Creek.

Mrs. WALKER leaves to mourn her three sons, Edgar and Ruffus of Granite City, Ill. and Avery at home who has tenderly cared for this dear mother during her 4 long years of rapid decline, one daughter, Mrs.Georgia RYBOLT of Winfield, MO and one sister, Mrs. Mildred RUL of Oklahoma City, Okla. One son, Russell passed away May 7, 1924. Aunt Betty as she was lovingly known passed from this world to her reward March 29, 1928 being 77 years old, 1 month and 28 days. A good woman has gone from us. A splendid type of motherhood, a Christian character. For her the toils and pains of this life are over and it is a consolation to know that she is at rest in the glory land, safe in the arms of Jesus.
