Obituary for Elsie Twellman (1921-1982)

Elsie Katharine Sophia TWELLMAN was born in St. Charles County, Mo., June 10, 1921, the daughter of John Henry and Dora Wilhelmena KLAUSSMEYER SCHLUETER. She passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Mo., Friday afternoon, February 5, 1982 at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 25 days.

She was married March 26, 1960 to William TWELLMAN.

Preceding Mrs. TWELLMAN in death were one brother, Johnny, and her parents.

She is survived by her husband, William Elmer TWELLMAN of their residence; three daughters: Becky Van SCOFF, Donna and her husband, Arlie SCHLUETER and Helen and her husband, Bob RINEY, all of Troy; four grandchildren: Robbie RINEY, Arlie Jr., William Elmer and April Marie SCHLUETER; one sister, Esther and her husband, Raymond SCHWEDE of Wentzville; five brothers: Edgar SCHLUETER, Victor SCHLUETER, Harvey SCHLUETER, Henry SCHLUETER and his wife, LuAnna, all of st. Charles and Arlie SCHLUETER and his wife, Donna of Troy; her husband’s sister, Irene and her husband, Eddie B. HARDY of Troy; Freddie TWELLMAN and his wife, Marie of Mission Viejo, California and Alfred Twellman and his wife, Mary Ruth of Washington, Mo.; other relatives and many, many friends.

Mrs. TWELLMAN was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Troy, of the Sugar Grove Goodwill Extension Club and the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Before her marriage, Mrs. TWELLMAN started taking care of children. After her marriage she continued in this line of work and eventually she and her husband opened the Twellman Boarding Home in Troy.

As we look back over Mrs. TWELLMAN’S life, we see that she was a person who cared about other people. She understood other people’s need for love and attention, and she gave both freely. She was a lady who meant much to many people.

Her family and her many friends will all miss her very greatly.

The Rev. Bruce Gosser conducted funeral services at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Feb. 7, from the Zion United Church of Christ in Troy, Mrs. Briggs Cragen was the organist and Mrs. Charles Kemper was the soloist.

Interment was at 10 o’clock Monday morning, Feb. 8, in the Zion E&R Cemetery, Troy. Casket bearers were Stanley SCHWEDE, Roger SCHWEDE, Wayne SCHLUETER, James TWELLMAN, Ron TWELLMAN and Robert STANEK.

Visitation was at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
