Obituary for Ed G. Twellman (1894-1982)

Gerhardt Edward (Ed G.) TWELLMAN, 87 of rural Troy, Mo., passed away early Sunday morning, April 4, 1982 at the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy. He had entered the hospital only a short time before his passing.

Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home was in charge of the services held at Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, April 6. The Rev. Al and Rev. Reva Minor, church pastors, conducted the service. Mrs. W. L. Meyer was the organistand Miss Sharon Lee Schneider and Mrs. Betty Kavanagh were the vocalists.

Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery. Casket bearers were nephews: Herman H. TWELLMAN, J. H. TWELLMAN, and Ralph A. WILLIAMS; grandsons: Gerald Wayne (Joe) TWELLMAN and David Edgar EISENBATH and great-nephew, Roy Lee MORSE.

Mr. TWELLMAN was born near Troy, July 31, 1894 the youngest son of Christina Helena Carolina NAU and Herman Henry TWELLMAN. He was united in marriage March 19, 1916 to Miss Dora Lee BROWN. To this union five children were born: Mrs. Clifford (Esther Avery) FOLTZ of Sanford, Florida, Mrs. Norbert J. (Alice M.) EISENBATH of St. Charles, Mo., Joe Eward TWELLMAN of Troy, Mrs. James J. (Nannie Elizabeth) STANFORD of St. Louis, Mo., and Gerald Lee TWELLMAN of Cypress, California.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Dora Lee TWELLMAN, Oct.31, 1956, one granddaughter, Nancy Lee BRAY, one grandson, Walter Christopher STANFORD, two sons-in-law, George Earl BRAY and Norbert Joseph EISENBATH. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his eleven brothers and sisters: Herman George Henry, Henry William, William Lorwence, Helena Carolina, Margaret LINNERT, John Henry Frederick, an infant brother, Frederick William, Emma Louisa Katherina TWELLMAN, Anna Katherine Wilhelmina FRINK, Henry Ludwig and Eda Louisa Margareta WILLIAMS.

On Sept. 29, 1981 he was married to Guadalupe L. Chavez ASSHOLG and she survives. He is also survived by his five children; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Mrs. George (Donna) MEEK, seven step- grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Wodrow (Abby Camille) HILL and Mrs. Frances Joann HOPKINS; three cousins, Elsie TWELLMAN TANNER MILLER of St. Louis, Lillie Lena HIMMEL and Mary Carolina LACEY of Moscow Mills.

Mr. TWELLMAN was christened and confirmed in the Zion Evangelical Church, Troy, transferring his membership to the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, over 50 years ago. He was a member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau and was a retired Lincoln County farmer. He also worked at the Moscow Elevator and Marvin HIMMEL Garage in later years.
