Funeral of Alonzo TRUE

The funeral of A. TRUE took place from his late residence, corner of Sixth and College streets, last Friday afternoon, and was largely attended by the many friends he had made during his long residence. Most impressive services were conducted by Dr. D. R. DUNGAN, after which the members of the Masonic fraternity took charge, and after arriving at Forest Grove Cemetery the beautiful rites of the order were given in honor of their worthy departed brother.
A. TRUE was born in New Hope, Missouri and was 59 years of age on the 9th of last Feburary. He leaves three children by his first wife and two by his second. He united early in life with the Christian Church and up to his death, was a faithful member and a useful citizen. His father Abner TRUE, and his son, S. A. TRUE, of Elsberry, and Charlie TRUE of Newport, Ark., his daughter, Mrs. O. R. PRITCHETT, and her husband, of Frankford, his sister Miss Belle TRUE of Elsberry, W. H. RADFORD, of Louisiana, and Miss Jennie WITON, of St. Louis, were the relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral.

Canton Press

[Transcriber's note: I take it to be the Canton Press of Canton Mo. since the Trues were from the Christian Church and the preachers came from Christian University, later Culver-Stockton at Canton, Mo. I have records of the Trues being members of Corinth Christian Church, Foley, Mo.- j.g]
