                                        An Old Native and Pioneer

After a lingering illness of several months, W. T. TRAIL passed away at 1:15 Fe. 1, 1901 at his home near Davis, Mo.

He was born in Lincoln County, Mo., March 10, 1823, and was married to Miss Martha Jane BARNES in 1844. To this union were born eight children:  Nancy wife of James OWEN; Ardelia, wife of  Stephen SITTON; Sarah, wife/o G. A. Y. REEDS; Wm. H., deceased Apr. 3, 1892; John R. and Hurley, Maggie and Eliza dying in infancy. His first wife died July 18, 1859. In Sep. 1860, he was married again to Miss Olive WEBB. Jan 4, 1859, he again was called to see this one who had been a true mother to his orphan children laid away. From then until death he lived to comfort his children and friends, to whom he was much devoted.

At age 19 he professed his faith in his Savior and for more than 58 years he has lived a consistant member of the Sulphur Lick Baptist Church .....which now stands at Davis.............

Funeral services were conducted by the writer at his late home...........His body was consigned to its last resting place in the family cemetery......J. S. Eames
