MILDRED WELCH SMILEY

Youngest daughter of William M. and Lucy WELCH, was born at Hay Market, Virginia, Jan. 8, 1833. When she was two years of age the family moved to the WELCH homestead one mile west of Troy. Here she grew to womanhood and was educated in Troy and afterward was married to Mr. D. B. SMILEY On May 14, 1851. She united with the Baptist church when quite young and moved her membership to Mill Creek church in August, 1882.
She lived here [sic] her faith in Christ until the day of her death, which occurred May 5th, 1920, at her home in Troy, Mo.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband and five children—Samuel, Josephine, James, George and Frank, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

"How quiet and how sweet her sleep,
A ripened sheaf now garnered in.
A life so pure, a faith so deep,
Her heavenly blessings now begin"
