FULTON F. SITTON

The subject of this sketch was born in Lincoln County, Feb. 24,1834, and died at Fulton insane asylum Jan. 2,1901, being almost 67 years old at the time of his death. Had he lived to the first of February next he would have spent 22 years in the asylum. He was a son of Laurence B. & Martha SITTON, who were among the earliest settlers of this county. He leaves a wife and four daughters- Mrs. Alvisa LUCKETT, of Briscoe, Mrs. Belle DOWNING, of near Whiteside, Mrs. Lottie HEARN and Miss Lou SITTON, of Bowling Green. He united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in early life and continued a consistant member during his years of responsibility.

Friday evening his remains were conveyed to Auburn, where, after prayer and song services they were laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery to await the dawn of the resurrection morn. He, like all mortals, may have had his faults, but his virtues out weighed them all. Impulsive, quick to resent injury, generous to a fault, ever ready to forgive, such were his characteristics. As a large number of men and women of Millwood and Union township will bear me witness, whose teacher he was in the old log school house so common 35 years ago. Peace to his ashes. Bowling Green Times please copy.

[Transcriber's Note: I found no census for him in the Auburn Presbyterian Church Cemetery..Probably in an unmarked grave. There is a family Cemetery on RA not far from Auburn with some Sittons buried in it. A slight chance he may be buried there as Phillip & wife Elaeanor Gibson Sitton parents of Fulton's father is buried there. My guess he is in Auburn Church Cem.  ]
