Obituary for Ed Sievert (1901-1979)

Edward August SIEVERT, retired Troy businessman, passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Mo., Thursday morning, March 8, 1979. Mr. SIEVERT was 77 years of age.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10 from the First Baptist Church in Troy. The Rev. J. Arnold Bickel, pastor, will be the minister. Interment will be in the Troy City Cemetery.

Mr. SIEVERT was the Metropolitan Insurance representative for this area for many years.

He was born in Warren County, Mo., Nov. 22, 1901, the son of August and Johanna WINDMAN SIEVERT. He was married to Miss Esther BROWN June 2, 1926.

Mrs. SIEVERT survives. He is also survived by two brothers, Gus SIEVERT of Moscow Mills, and Henry SIEVERT of Warrenton, two sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Minnie) THILKING of Levasy, Mo., and Mrs. Louise HASEKAMP of Wright City, Mo., several brothers and sisters-in-law, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Mr. SIEVERT had been confined to his home for a number of months, and only entered the hospital on Monday before his passing.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy where he had served as deacon and choir director for many years. He was active in the music circles of Troy, and had been a member of the community chorus, and of the Cuivre River Boys Quartet which was a very popular vocal group several years ago.

Mr. SIEVERT was also a past member of the Troy Rotary Club and of the Troy Chamber of Commerce.
