Obituary for August Herman Sievert  (1894-1984)

            August Herman SIEVERT was born near Wright City, July 2, 1894, the son of August and Johanna WINDMAN SIEVERT.  He passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Thursday, August 30, 1984.  He was 90 years, one month, and 28 days at the time of his death.

            He was christened at the Indian Camp Church near Wright City and later confirmed at the Wright City Church where he became a member.  In 1922, he transferred his membership to Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, where he remained a member until his death.

            Mr. SIEVERT served in World War I in France and Germany.  After his discharge from the army he was engaged in farming.

            On July 31, 1927, he was united in marriage to Mamie MANKEL of Moscow Mills.

            He is survived by his step-daughter, Lorraine PUETZ, her husband, Fred, three grandchildren, Linda, Donna and Gary and their families, two sisters, Louise HASEKAMP, resident of New Florence Nursing Home, Minnie THILKING of Levasy and his sister-in-law, Lydia SIEVERT of Wellsville, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Romie MANKEL SIEVERT; his devoted wife of over 50 years, Mamie MANKEL SIEVERT, three sisters: Carrie VAHLE, Johanna MOELLER and Emma WEITKAMP and four brothers: Fred, William, Henry and Edward.

            Funeral services for Mr. SIEVERT were held Saturday, September 1, 1984 at 2 o’clock, from Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills.  His pastor, the Rev. Allen C. Minor was the minister in charge.   Mrs. Lowell Lampley was the soloist and Mrs. Wencker Meyer  was the organist.

            Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Mo.  Casket bearers were Marvin BUENEMAN, Walter IRMALING, Wilfred KNAPHEIDE, Orla MUELLER, Ernie PARSONS, and Bernard ZUROWESTE.

            Visitation was at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
