ALFRED S. SHAFER DIES AT HOME IN MOSCOW

Alfred S. SHAFER, 79 years old, died at his home in Moscow Mills last Thursday, December 21, after an illness of about two months.

Mr. SHAFER was born November 15, 1860 in Stoke County, North Carolina. In the year 1878, he was married to Miss Anna CLARK. He was married again to Miss Katy OSTENDORF in 1906 who survives him.

Eight children also survive: James SHAFER, Mrs. Anna POLLARD, Mrs. Raymond PHILLIPS of Hannibal; Mrs. L. E. WILLIAMS of Liege, Mo., Mrs. Walter BRUNNER of California; Abner SHAFER, Vernette SHAFER, and Mrs. Floyd THORNHILL of Moscow Mills.

One brother, William SHAFER of Madison, North Carolina; three sisters, Miss Betty SHAFER, Mrs. Mannie WEBSTER, also of Madison, N.C. and Mrs. Sue HAEFFLER, of Forth Worth, Texas; four sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, 22 grandchildren and nine great-children also survive.

Mr. SHAFER united with the Methodist Church in October, 1926 in a revival meeting, conducted by Rev. MARTIN of Moscow Mills. Funeral services were conducted in that church, Saturday, December 23, by Rev. M. A. GARRISON and burial was in the Troy Cemetery.
