Obituary for Ida Catherine Hackman Schulze (1880-1974)

            Ida Catherine SCHULZE was born in rural Troy on May 28, 1880.  She was the daughter of Henry HACKMAN and his wife Elizabeth (nee) SCHEMMER.  She was married on Oct. 22, 1902 to Friedrich W. SCHULZE and this union was blessed with one daughter, Hilda E. SCHULZE.

            Mrs. SCHULZE was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1951, by one brother who died in infancy, and by two sisters- Adeline SCHAPER and Caroline KIEST.             She is survived by her daughter, Hilda; by two sisters, Anna TWELLMAN, of Silex, and Ella HACKMANN, of Troy; by one brother, Fred HACKMANN, of Troy; by one brother-in-law, Julius KIEST, of Centralia, Missouri; and by several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

            Mrs. SCHULZE was a life-long member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills.  She had been baptized as an infant in the old Friedens Church building on Anderson Hill, and she was confirmed on March 18, 1894 as a member of the first class to be confirmed in the present Friedens Church building.  At the time of her death, Mrs. SCHULZE was the oldest living member of Friedens Church.

            Mrs. SCHULZE passed from this life on March 11, 1974 at the age of 93.

            Funeral serves for Mrs. SCHULZE were conducted from Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills, at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, March 15th, by the pastor, the Rev. Dwight Borden.  Mrs. John Creech was the organist, and Bill Berueking was the soloist.

            Interment was in the Friedens Anderson Hill Cemetery at Moscow Mills.  Casket bearers were Woodrow HILL, Tom HENKE, Raymond LENK, Vernett SHAFER, David HUMPHREY and Julius BUENEMANN.

            Arrangements were through the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
