Fred William SCHAPER, 96, of Moscow Mills, died March 20, 1983 at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral services are to be held at 1:00 p.m. today (Wednesday) from McCoy and Blossom Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Melvin SCHAPER. Interment is in the Zoar Cemetery in Wright City.

He was born March 6, 1887 in Warren County, the son of Henry and Carrie WINDMEYER SCHAPER. He was married February 16, 1921 to Lillie A. EVERSMEYER and she preceded him in death August 16, 1955.

Surviving are three sons: Herald E. and Lester F. SCHAPER of Moscow Mills and Delmer F. SCHAPER of Ventura, Ca.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Franklin and Walter SCHAPER of Troy; daughters-in-law; other relatives and friends.

Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mayme KENNEDY and three brothers: Herman, Florence and Amos SCHAPER.

Mr. SCHAPER had been a mechant since 1927. He came to Moscow Mills in 1938, established the Fred Schaper and Sons General Store, staying active in the business as long as his health permitted. He was a member of the Moscow Mills Methodist Church.
