Obituary for Franklin Henry Schaper  (1901-1987)

            Franklin Henry SCHAPER passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 21, 1987, at the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.  Mr. SCHAPER had attained the age of 86 years and 18 days.   Franklin SCHAPER was born near the Linn’s Mill area of Lincoln County on Jan. 3, 1901, the son of Henry E. and Carrie WINDMEYER SCHAPER.  He grew up on a farm and attended the Koelling School.

            On August 9, 1925, Franklin was united in marriage with Mary Sabina KRIEG of Wright City, Mo.  To this union, one daughter, Alice Jean, was born.  Franklin and Sabina were married 57 years when she preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 1983.

            Following the death of his beloved wife, Sabina, Franklin continued to live in his own home until his final illness.  This was made possible through the love and support of his daughter, Alice Jean and his very devoted son-in-law, George BRUNE, of St. Charles, Mo.

            He is further survived by two brothers-in-law; Alva KRIEG and wife, Irene, of Troy; Leo KRIEG and wife, Ruby, of Overland and one sister-in-law, Alberta NICKLES of Dexter, Mo.; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

            He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sabina; five brothers: Herman H., Fred W., Florence G., Walter G., and Amos J. SCHAPER and one sister, Mayme KENNEDY.

            Visitation and funeral services were held at the McCoy & Blossom Chapel with the Rev. Melvin SCHAPER officiating.  Interment was in the Zoar Cemetery in Troy.  Mrs. Patty Phillips was the organist.  The following nephews of Mr. SCHAPER served as casket bearers: Calvin SCHAPER, David SCHAPER, Herald SCHAPER, Leerie SCHAPER, Lester SCHAPER, and Paul KRIEG.

            In memory of Franklin SCHAPER, contributions may be made to the Zoar Cemetery Association.
