Man Shot at Chantilla

A very serious affair occurred at Chantilla, in this county, on last Tuesday, which resulted in the death of Mr. John Rose, who was shot through the bowels by one James Bray. It seems and old difficulty existed between the men; and last Tuesday immediately after Mr. Rose Arrived in town and stepped up to a crowd of men collected on the street, Bray advanced toward him, and without any words passing between them, drew his pistol and shot him. Bray immediately started to run, and though several shots were fired at him by friends of Rose, made his escape into the brush near by and at last accounts had not been overtaken. Mr. Rose died the day following. -- Lincoln County Herald.
