Obituary for Fred Rohlfing (1907-1977)

Fred ROHLFING 69, Gerald, Mo., formerly of Troy, passed away Feb. 8, 1977 at St. Francis Hospital, Washington, Mo., following a long illness.

He was born June 17, 1907 in St. Louis to Jack and Kate ROHLFING. He was married July 1, 1941 in St. Louis to Cecelia (Ceil) HORENKAMP, who survives.

Mr. ROHLFING lay in state the afternoon of Feb. 9 at the Ottman Funeral Home in Gerald. Early that evening he was taken to Math-Herman and Sons Funeral Home, St. Louis until time of services which were conducted Feb. 11 from St. James Church of Christ in St. Louis, officiated by Rev. Strong. Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery, St. Louis County.

Casket bearers were Glenn CREECH, Bernard HAARMANN, Ed MOHRMAN, Ed KUHN, Ed SCHLADERBACK and Henry LONG.

Other than his wife, Ceil, he is survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, Frank and Florence HORENKAMP and Margaret and Luke CORDES; his uncle Fred W. BROWN; 12 nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Mr. ROHLFING, a retired florist, was a former member of the St. Louis Florist Club. He and Mrs. ROHLFING were owners of Rohlfing Florist and Greenhouse on Hwy. H near Troy, having started business in May 1960. They continued at that location for appoximately 15 years when due to Mr. ROHLFING’s ill health they retired and sold the business, later moving to Gerald, Mo., where they were living at the time of his death.
