Services for Joseph Elmer Rogers of Moscow Mills were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. The Rev. Kenneth Gray officiated with burial in the New Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Rogers, 62, died Nov. 23, 1981 at his home in rural Moscow Mills. Born Feb 8, 1919 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Dameron Rogers. On Sept. 17, 1938 he was married in Lincoln County to Verna Lillian Lusse, who survives. Mr. Rogers was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of Word War II.

Surviving besides his wife are three children, Joy Cullom, Nathan Rogers and Ronald Rogers, all of Moscow Mills; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Raymond Rogers of St. Charles and Warren Rogers of O’Fallon; six sisters, Josephine Allen of Amarillo, Tx., Myrtle Algermission and Bernice Waldogar of St. Charles, Sara Ellen Blackwell, Eolia, Beula Viering of Lake of the Ozarks and Frances McBent of Harvester.
