Uncited clipping from the Reynolds/Welch family collection.

MARY E. REYNOLDS,

The second child of George T. and Jane E. REYNOLDS, was born in Bedford county, Va., October 26, 1838, and departed this life at her home in Lincoln county Sunday, February 9, 1919, being eighty years, three months and fourteen days old at the time of her death.

She, with her parents, came to Missouri, in the year 1846 and she has since resided in Lincoln county.

She united with the Baptist church some thirty years ago, holding her membership with the Eolia church at the time of her death.

It can be said by the many who knew her that she was a good woman, never ceasing to do some kind act for those whom she loved. It seemed that she was everybody’s friend and it was a never to be forgotten pleasure to visit in this home of her and her two brothers, Charlie and Albert REYNOLDS, where she will be greatly missed, as well as in the community in which she resided.

She was one of a family of thirteen children only six brothers and one sister are left to mourn her death. They are Alec, James, Charles, John and Albert REYNOLDS, all of Lincoln county and Mrs. Sarah BROWN of Pike county. Besides those brothers and sister she leaves an orphan niece, Mrs. Floyd ROSE of St. Louis and an orphan nephew, Courtland MITCHELL, whom she reared to young womanhood and manhood from early childhood. These with many other relatives and friends are left to mourn her departure.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at two o’clock p. m. at Mill Creek church by the Rev. MAGGART of Elsberry, to which a large crowd of relatives and friends came to pay this last tribute of love and respect, after which her body was laid to rest in the Mill Creek cemetery.
