Died, of Typhoid Pneumonia, near Auburn, Mo., on the 14th of May, 1875, Mr. John S. Reid, in the 31st year of his age.
He was cut down in the full vigor of his young manhood. The ways of God are inscrutable, and we must bow in humble submission to his righteous will. His death was a sore bereavement to his family and the community in which he lived. He has passed over the river, and is resting, as we trust, in the blessed assurance of a blissful immortality.

Contributor's Note: John S. Reid was born on April 5 1844 in Lincoln County, the son of David Reid and his second wife, Sally Ann Shannon. He died single. The obituary is by Rev. Frank Y. Pressly, the second pastor of the Mt. Zion congregation.
