Funeral services for Alphonse Clarence PURLER, 74, Old Monroe were held February 1, 1988 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Old Monroe with Fr. Robert Fleiter officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mr. PURLER passed away January 29, 1988 at his residence at Winfield.

He was born March 4, 1913 at Old Monroe to Henry and Eugeina (nee BURKEMPER) PURLER. In 1932, he married Oma PURLER of St. Charles who survives.

Also surviving include two sons, Clarence J. PURLER of St. Charles and Jack D. PURLER of Old Monroe; one daughter, Betty SCHIPPER of Montgomery City; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Cornelius PURLER of Old Monroe; two sisters, Esther PURLER of Wellston and sister Rosita PURLER of Portage des Souix.

He was a life long resident of the Lincoln County area, also a member of Laborers Local No. 618 of St. Charles, and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Carter-Ricks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
