Obituary for Ruben Pikey (1925-1976)

            Ruben Franklin PIKEY of Whitewater, Mo., was dead on arrival at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau at 9 o’clock Wednesday night, March 31st(1976), after suffering an apparent heart attack.  He was 50 years old.

            Mr. PIKEY was born November 30, 1925, near Marston.  His parents were the late Arthur G. and Cora L. PHILLIPS PIKEY.

            On March 17, 1944 he married Miss Ruby Jewell HAMLIN, of Marston and she survives.  He served with the Army Air Force during World War II, worked at the Borg-Warner Company at Wright City until September 1974, when he retired due to ill health.  He was a member of the Highland Prairie Nondenominational Church of Ethlyn, Missouri and had been a member of Troy VFW Post 8828.

            Others survivors include 3 sons, Ruben F. PIKEY, Jr., Whitewater and Stephan Craig and Richard Allen PIKEY, both at home; 4 daughters, Mrs. Martha Jean ROCHE, Poughkeepsie, New York, Mrs. Glennon (Evelyn Ann) HUNN, Foristell, Mrs. Charles A. (Sandra Sue) BERGFELD, Moscow Mills and Miss Wendy Denise PIKEY at home;  4 brothers, Fred PIKEY, Portageville, Allan PIKEY, Spanish Lake, Ray PIKEY, St. Louis and Val M. PIKEY, Pagedale, Missouri; 1 sister, Mrs. Lucille ESPOSITO, Tines Beach, Missouri and 7 grandchildren.  One son, Arthur Dewayne PIKEY and 2 brothers have preceded him in death.

            Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with Rev. James Murphy, the pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.

            Burial was in the Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn, Missouri.
