Obituary for Omer H. Peitzman (1912-1980)

Omer Henry PEITZMAN a lifetime resident of Moscow Mills, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 1980 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles.

Mr. PEITZMAN was born July 2, 1912, the son of Ernest F. PEITZMAN and Elizabeth KOESTER PEITZMAN. His mother passed away when he was only 2. Later his father remarried and Anna SPIELHAGEN became his step-mother who reared him into manhood.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1951, his step-mother in 1958, a brother William in 1967 and brother, Arthur in 1976.

On August 30, 1952 he was united in marriage to Althea CULLOM (nee RATTLES) and became a wonderful step-father to her four children. To this union one child, Kathy Jean, was born in 1956.

Mr. PEITZMAN was an employee for 27 years with the CB&Q railroad where he had many faithful friends. He retired in 1970. Until his recent illness he was employed at J. V. Midwest in Troy.

He is survived by his wife Althea; one brother, Carl of Old Monroe; his sons: Harry WIELMS and George WIELMS of Moscow Mills; his daughters: Kathy PEITZMAN of the home, Shirley (Mrs. Raymond) LENK of Moscow Mills and Evelyn (Mrs. Tom) ROBERTS of Silex; six grandchildren: Janet FORBECK, Christina LENK, Rodney, Roger and Brian WIELMS of Moscow Mills and Curtis PEITZMAN of the home; one great-grandson, Chris FORBECK of Moscow Mills; one sister-in-law. Eleanor, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 21 at 10 a.m. from the Sacred HeartChurch in Troy with the Rev. Father James FLYNN in charge.

Pallbearers were Ed McNEALY, Marvin HIMMEL, Archie MARTIN, Melvin GILBERT, Glennon PRIESTER and Leonard HUNN.

Interment was in Friedend United Church of Christ Cemetery near Moscow Mills. Visitation was at McCoy-Paul Funeral Home in Troy.
