Obituary for Ernie Peitzman (1901-1982)

Ernie William PEITZMAN was born March 15, 1901 in Lincoln County, Mo., the son of John and Mary KOESTER PEITZMAN.

Ernie entered into eternal rest June 8, 1982 at the Medicalodge in Troy, Mo. at the age of 81 years.

He attended Keelston School and was confirmed at the Moscow Evangelical Church on Jan. 31, 1915.

On March 11, 1925 he was united in marriage to Ethel THORNHILL at the Troy Evangelical parsonage. This union was blessed with two daughters. Ernie and Ethel spent most of their married life in the Moscow Mills area. Ernie spent most of his life working as a pipeline worker. In later years they lived in Pontiac, Illinois and Salisbury, Mo. where Ernie was transferred, but they always maintained a home in Moscow Mills. He retired from Sinclair Oil Company December 31, 1963 after 28 years of faithful service previously working for Prairie Oil Company.

Ernie and Ethel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 11, 1975. Ethel preceded him in death December 16, 1979. After her death he was very depressed and his health failed rapidly.

He is survived by his two daughters: Elnora and her husband, Glen DETWEILER and Anna Marie and her husband, Robert SHILHARVEY; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law and their wives; two cousins; nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Howard.

Ernie was devoted to his family and enjoyed his work with the oil company. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves many happy memories.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 11, 1982, from the McCoy-Paul Funeral Home. Rev. Lester Zacher officiating. Mrs D. L. Goins and Joyce Gillespie were in charge of music. The pallbearers were grandson: Michael SHILHARVEY, Danny SHILHARVEY, Joe SHILHARVEY, Ronald SCHIEFFER, Tim SCHIEFFER and John "Skip" PEITZMAN.

Interment was in the Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery.
