Obituary for Lawrence Pat Elmore Patton (1914-1992)

SILEX—Services for Lawrence Pat Elmore Patton, 77. Silex, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Silex Baptist Church.  The Rev. Fred Davis officiated.  Burial was at Olney Cemetery.

 

Mr. Patton died March 6, 1992, at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital.

 

He was born Aug. 23, 1914, in Williamsburg to Harry Newton and Amy Irene Kettle Patton.  He was married Oct. 10, 1934, in Troy, to Ethel Marjorie Graves.  She survives.

 

Other survivors include four sons, Harry Patton, Silex, Doyle Patton, Ellisville, Jim Patton, Silex, and Gary Patton, O’Fallon; three daughters, Shirley Morris, Manchester, Joyce Fischer, Foley, and Diana Gullett, Troy; one sister, Clara Duckworth, Mexico; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, Roger Patton; three brothers, William Patton, Paul Patton and Herbert Patton; and one sister, Daisy Peyton.

 

Mr. Patton lived in the Silex area all his life where he farmed and worked as a truck driver.  He was employed as manager at the Silex Lumber Co. from 1958 to his retirement in 1979.

 

Mr. Patton served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.  He was a member of Silex Baptist Church.

 

Pallbearers will be Scott Morris, Brian Patton, Billy Fischer, Keven Patton, Keith Patton, Mike Gullett, Jeff Patton, and Darrin Patton.

 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

The Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex is in charge of arrangements.
