Obituary for Margaret E. Montgomery (1920-1923)
Uncited clippings from the "Mattie Davis Martin Collection" of Doris Martin Jablonski, 1998.

Margaret E. MONTGOMERY was born April 8, 1920 near Foley, Mo., and died June 22, 1923, at St. Louis Mo., age three years, two months and 14 days. She suffered an attack of pneumonia in February, the effects of which caused her death, as she never fully recovered from it, though she had the best of medical aid. She suffered intensely the last week, but was very patient through it all, pointing toward Heaven several times and saying, "Do it now; I
want to go home."

A few hours before she died she reached her little arms to bid her parents good-bye. She was christened at Bethany church at the age of 8 months.  She leaves father, mother and a sister, Dorothy, age 10 months, and many others relatives and friends to mourn her loss.

The funeral services were conducted at Bethany church by Rev. Thos. H. TROTTER, pastor of Defiance M. E. Church, South. Hard it is to live without her, yet how sweet it is to understand; that in Heaven the angels have her; with Christ she lives in that beautiful land.

- Rev. T. H. TROTTER
