JOSEPH MILLER

 

Joseph Miller, a lifetime resident of the

Silex area, died Monday, April 13, 1987,

in Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy.

 

Services were held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday

at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood

with the Rev. Gerald Curtin officiating.  The

St. Alphonsus School Choir, accompanied by

Betty Miller, sang “In the Garden,” “How Great

Thou Art” and “Old Rugged Cross.”  Burial

was in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

 

Visitations were made at the Mudd Funeral

Home in Silex where the rosary was recited

at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Pallbearers were Mark Lueck, Denny and

J. Joe Miller, Gary Gibbs,  Bob Coello and

Steve Miller.

 

Mr. Miller, a farmer, was born April 20, 1930,

in Silex to Bernard John and Mabel Clara Myers

Miller.  He was married March 13, 1968, in

St. Charles to June C. Ruffin.  Mr. Miller was a

member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church;

participated in the church choir and had been a

member of Millwood Knights of Columbus

for 38 years.

 

He is survived by a son, Joseph Charles (Chuck)

Miller of Silex; three brothers, Jerry, John and

Justin Miller, all of Silex; three sisters, Elaine

Gibbs of Florissant, Clara May Wierschen and

Bonnie Lueck both of St. Charles; nieces and

nephews.  He was preceded in death by two sisters,

Helen Miller who died in infancy and Mabel Rose Miller.

 

Memorial may be made to Lincoln County

Memorial Hospital, Troy.
