Troy Free Press, Friday Morning, September 5, 1941

Ida Emma MILLER

Miss Ida Emma MILLER, whose spirit left her frail body about 5 o’clock Tuesday morning, August 12, was the oldest daughter of the late Samuel A. and Emily MILLER. She had been in poor health for a number of years, being confined to her bed the past five weeks.

She was born October 20, 1859 at Portage de Sioux, Mo., and lived to reach the age of 81 years, 10 months and 22 days, one of a family of six children. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure her sister, Mrs. Fanny McHUGH of Winfield, four nephews and seven nieces, other near relatives and many friends.

Her parents moved to Lincoln County when she was a child and since then has made her home in and near Winfield. Her life was a life of sacrifice for others, caring tenderly for her parents and an invalid niece. She made her home with Lum BROYLES from December 1930 until June of this year. From this time until her death, she has been with her sister, who lovingly cared for her.

She united with the Methodist Church at Bethany some 65 years ago, later moving her membership to Winfield. Aunt Ida always attended services when possible, her faith in God was manifested by her everyday life.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, Aug. 14, by a former pastor, Rev. A. W. DARTER, assisted by the present pastor, Rev. PRICHARD. The remains were laid to rest in Bethany Cemetery. Thus a dear Christian character has answered the summons to come up higher.
