Betty METTE of Moscow Mills died in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Mo., on Oct. 3, 1987 at the age of 61 years.

Funeral services were held Oct. 5, 1987 from the First Assembly of God Church, Wentzville. The pastor, the Rev. Ruth Rosser was the minister in charge and the eulogy was given by Jim Marsh. The musicians were Glenda Scott and Dennis Malberg.

Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Casket bearers were Mike CLARK, Bobby CHRISTOPHER, Bob CARROW and Ricky QUIROZ.

Betty Rae METTE was born in St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 14, 1925, the daughter of Ray and Cecil WATKINS CHRISTOPHER. She was married Oct. 21, 1950 to Henry William METTE, and he survives. She is also survived by one daughter, Miss Maribeth METTE of Moscow Mills; her father, Ray CHRISTOPHER of Dexter, Mo.; three sisters, Gladys and her husband, John CZESCHIN of St. Louis, Martha and her husband, Vern CLARK of Wentzville and Miss Sally CHRISTOPHER of Foristell, Mo.; two brothers, Bob CHRISTOPHER and his wife, Ruth of Wentzville and John CHRISTOPHER and his wife, Irene of Wentzville; her brother Dick CHRISTOPHER’s wife, Shirley of Foristell; her husband’s sister and brothers, Mrs. Dora DAVIS of St. Louis, Frank METTE and his wife, Wilma of Venice, Minn., Raymond METTE of Riverside, Calif., Donald CHRISTOPHER and his wife, Ruby of Lexington, Va., and Oscar CHRISTOPHER and his wife Louella of Wentzville; a number of nieces and nephews. Her mother and one brother, Dick CHRISTOPHER, precede her in death.

During World War II, Mrs. METTE was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp Nurses’ Corp. After service, she returned to public nursing. She joined the staff of Lincoln County Memorial Hospital a few months after that hospital opened where she became the first Supervisor of Surgery. Most of her nursing career was spent in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the 15th District Missouri Nurses’ Association.

Mrs. METTE was a devout Christian and a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Wentzville.
