MARY ISABELLA McCUNE

On the 31st day of October 1890, when the brown foliage of forest and field had begun to tremble and fall at the touch of the cool autumn breeze, and the sweet song of birds had ceased to enliven nature with their mellow notes; when dry fields and meadows had taken the place of bloomng gardens, and the wild flowers had faded from the woodland and nature began to i------------------------ --------- the white - winged messenger of peace claimed the pure soul of Mary Isabelle McCUNE, beloved wife of Mr. James McCUNE of near Mexico, Mo. and daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Isaac ROBINSON of this place, and bore it aloft to the City of God to stand before the great white throne, --------------------------------------

Mrs. McCUNE was born and raised in Lincoln County, and was 21 years and 9 months old at the time of her departure. She was a kind sister, obedient daughter and a dutiful and loving wife, and was a consistant member of the Baptist church during the past two years of her earthly life. She was married to James McCUNE of Audrain county, Mo. on the 19th of Aug., 1886, and resided in that county with her husband until about the 1st of last June, when, her failing health, she was brought back to the home of her parents for the purpose of medical treatment, which failed, however, to give any relief, and after several months of great bodily pain, which she bore with Christian fortitude and resignation, she yielded up her soul to the Great God who gave it.
