Mrs. Melva Lucille MARTIN passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy, Mo., Saturday evening, July 23, 1977, following an illness of several months. She was 64 years of age.

Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church of Troy, Tuesday, July 26, 1977, by the pastor, the Rev. J. Arnold Bickel. The organist was Mrs. Ken Jameson and the vocalists were Mrs. Helen Duffey and Mike Woods. Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Porter CONLEY, LeRoy BAXTER, Alpha O’MARA, Ken JAMESON, Harry DAW and Darrel HARVEY.

Mrs. MARTIN was born near Troy, Mo., Sept. 12, 1912, the daughter of Theodore and Daisy CRAIG GERDEMAN. On January 17, 1934, she was married to James Silvy MARTIN. They became the parents of seven children.

Mrs. MARTIN was formerly a member of the Friedens Church of Moscow Mills, having joined that church on March 31, 1929. After her marriage, she joined the Highland Prairie Church at Ethlyn, and after the family moved to Troy, she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy.

Mrs. MARTIN was preceded in death by one son, Ted, who died in infancy, and by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Silvy MARTIN, of their residence in Troy; three sons: Glenn MARTIN, of Memphis, Tennessee, Gerald MARTIN, of Columbia, Mo., and Eddie MARTIN, of Troy; three daughter: Mrs. Joe (Melba) PAULSMEYER, of Olney, Mo., Mrs. Walter (Lois) ILLIG, of Troy, and Mrs. Joe (Joyce) SIMMONS, of Troy; four sisters: Mrs. Nita KENNEDY, of Troy, Mrs. Arlie (Laura Bell) HELMICH, of Moscow Mills, Mrs. Herman (Helen) DAVIS, of Troy, and Mrs. Pat (Anna Mae) SCHEER of Kansas City, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral arrangements were through the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home, Troy.
