Obituary for Elizabeth Martin (1904-1985)

Mrs. Elizabeth Pauline MARTIN of Troy passed away Friday morning, May 10, 1985 at the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy. She had attained the age of 80 years, seven months and 28 days.

Mrs. MARTIN was born September 12, 1904 near Moscow Mills, a daughter of carl William and Ida Marie (OSTENDORF) WESTERMAN. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed at the age of fourteen in the Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills. Her confirmation verse was 2 Corinthians 9:6, "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap bountifully." She has served her church faithfully and was active in the Women’s Fellowship for as long as her health permitted.

On September 23, 1925 she was united in marriage to Leslie Lee MARTIN. To this union three children were born, Colma, Melvin and Wayne.

Survivors include a daughter, Colma WORSLEY and her husband Charles of Troy; a son, Wayne MARTIN and his wife, Betty of Jefferson City; a daughter-in-law, Betty MARTIN of Arlington, Texas; four sisters, Helen BUENEMAN and her husband, Ora of Troy; Willie Rachael KRIEG of Moscow Mills; Eva Mae BUENEMAN and her husband, Edwin of Troy; one brother, Herbert WESTERMAN and his wife, Amanda of Bellflower; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Leslie, on October 6, 1965; her parents; one son, Melvin L. MARTIN; three sisters, Mary Lee WESTERMAN, Hilda WESTERMAN and Gladys HOLMES and an infant brother.

Mrs. MARTIN was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her love and guiding influence will always be remembered.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, May 12, 1985 from Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills. Officiating the service was Rev. Allen Minor. Miss Marie Himmel was the organist with Mrs. Wilhelmina Harrell the soloist, singing the selections of " It Is Well With My Soul" and "More Love To Thee O Christ".

Interment was in Friedens Cemetery in Moscow Mills. Casketbearers were, Irvin BUENEMAN, Tom BUENEMAN, Bruce FENNEDY, Roger KRIEG, Gerald MARTIN and Richard WESTERMAN.

McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
