From Clippings of Laura Gerdeman Helmich

Clara Jane LAY was born October 23, 1850, in Somerset, Kentucky, and passed away, December 14, 1921, at 3 p.m.

She was married to Francis M. CRAIG, October 28th, 1874, who died October 20, 1893.  To this union seven children were born, Laura Belle and William Henry, dying in infancy; Marion, who died at the age of 12; Lula, (wife of Wm. T. ESTES) who passed away 20 months ago.

Those who remain to mourn the loss of mother are: Mrs. Nellie BARRETT, Mrs. Daisy GERDEMAN, Mrs. Lily EVERSMEYER; eighteen grandchildren and a host of friends.

In October, 1895, she was married to J.J. LOEFFLER, who is also left to mourn her loss.

On or about the year, 1870, she joined the Christian church of Troy, Mo.

No truer Christian, no truer mother, no truer friend, ever lived.   Her kindness and goodness, and truly loving friendship will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

We miss her but we put our trust in God, our Maker, knowing as we do, that , he doeth all things good for those who love him.  We commend her soul to her Maker.  – Her Children.
