Obituary for Louis Ernest Jacob Leitman (1907-1984)

Louis Ernest Jacob LEITMAN was born on a farm near Moscow Mills, Mo., March 20, 1907, the son of Fritz and Lena BOEHN LEITMAN. He departed this life Tuesday night, Dec. 18, 1984 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 28 days.

On Nov. 25, 1925 he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Altha SMITH. Five children were born to this union.

On January 15, 1973, Mrs. LEITMAN passed away. Others who preceded him in death were two small daughters, Altha Juanita who died in 1927 and Betty Susanna who died in 1930, and one sister, Miss Anna LEITMAN who died Feb. 17, 1981.

On September 22, 1979 Mr. LEITMAN was united in marriage to the former Miss Bernice HOECKER, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Erma Lorene SIMPSON, his two sons, Homer Alfred and his wife, Patricia and Joseph Eugene and his wife, Catherine, all of Moscow Mills; his three step-daughters, Edna and her husband, Samuel PARSONS, Lorene and her husband, Harold ETHINGTON and Dottie and her husband, Charles ETHINGTON, all of Winfield, Mo., his step-son, Edward DICKMEYER and his wife, Rose, of Moscow Mills; ten grandchildren, 12-step grandchildren; one great-grandson, 18 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Fritz LEITMAN of Troy, other relatives and many, many friends.

Mr. LEITMAN farmed and lived near Moscow Mills until his retirement. After his second marriage, he moved near Winfield where he lived the past five years.

Mr. LEITMAN was a member and supporter of the Friedens United Church of Christ. He was highly regarded by his neighbors and friends, and held very dear by his family. All will greatly miss Mr. LEITMAN.

Funeral services for Mr. LEITMAN were conducted at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, Dec. 21, 1984, from the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, MO., by the church pastor, the Rev. Allen Minor, who was assisted by Dr. Kenneth Gray, pastor at the New Salem Baptist Church, Winfield. Mrs. Wencker Meyer was the organist.

Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Casket bearers were Scott LEITMAN, Randy LEITMAN, Charles Edward SIMPSON, Allen RAMBEAU, Danny Ray PARSONS and Bob STRASSEMEIER.

Visitation was at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
