Obituary for Mrs. Jennie Keithley (d.1940)

Mrs. Jennie KEITHLEY, a daughter of the late John Handy and Frances MASSIE DRYDEN, passed away Nov. 18, 1940, at a hospital in Rolla, Mo. only after a few days illness caused by a fractured hip, the result of a fall in her home at Steelville, Mo. Her death was quite a shock to her famiy and relatives, as she [seemed] to be recovering very satisfactorily from the injury.  She was 79 years old Sep.12, 1940, and being 58 years ago she was married to Newton KEITHLEY, who is now past 81 years of age.
To this union 5 children were born, one son dying in childhood.  Besides her aged husband, she leaves 2 daughters and 2 sons, to miss her, namely:  Mrs. Harold HOPKINS and Mrs. J. J. RAPPS, both of Steelville and Homer and Kenneth of Chicago, also several grandchildren.
She also leaves 3 sisters:  Mrs. Ruth HARLOW, of Stephenville, Tx.; Mrs. Arch TAYLOR of Whiteside; and Mrs. Frank TAYLOR, of near Briscoe.
Mrs. KEITHLEY was born & raised in Lincoln Co., near Winfield, and has many relatives and friends here.
Funeral services were conducted Weds. p.m. Nov. 20, by her pastor, Rev. ROPER, at the First Baptist Church in Steelville, of which she had been a faithful member for many years, and burial was in the cemetery nearby.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank TAYLOR and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. P. M.WEINAND, of Troy, attended the funeral.
