Obituary for Elizabeth (Elsie) Bergesch Karrenbrock (1900-1978)

Elizabeth Catherine Caroline KARRENBROCK was born Dec. 23, 1900, at Moscow Mills, Mo., the daughter of Fritz and Annie VOEPEL BERGESCH.

She passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital.

On August 11, 1920, she was united in marriage to Edward William KARRENBROCK. Two daughters were born to this marriage.

In the early years of their marriage, the family lived in Moscow Mills, later moving to St. Louis. During part of those years, Mrs. KARRENBROCK was employed by Missouri Baptist Hospital. After his retirement from Wagner Electric, Mr. and Mrs. KARRENBROCK moved to Troy.

Elsie, as she was best known, was baptized and confirmed in the Friedens Church, now Friedens United Church of Christ. She was a member of the Women’s Guild.

Mrs. KARRENBROCK was preceded in death by her husband, Edward William Oct. 18, 1976. One sister Alma and one brother William, and an infant brother also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her two daughters, Isabel and her husband, Maurice KINDERMANN of Kansas City, and Hazel and her husband Walter TEMPLEMEYER of St. Louis, one brother, Fred BERGESCH and his wife, Welma of O’Fallon, two grandsons, two great-granddaughters, her husband’s sister, Miss Alma KARRENBROCK, her husband’s brother, Albert KARRENBROCK and his wife, Annie, several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Mr. and Mrs. KARRENBROCK and their daughters and their families were very devoted to one another. Mrs. KARRENBROCK stated recently that she would join her husband on his birthday anniversary, which was Jan. 27. This came to pass when she passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 1978 at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 3 days.

Funeral services for Mrs. KARRENBROCK were conducted from the Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills, Mo., at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, January 29, 1978. The church pastor, the Rev. William L. Graves, was the minister. Vocalists were Mrs. Edwin Bergfeld, Mrs. Florence Eversmeyer and Lester Schloemann. The organist was Mrs. Wencker Meyer.

Burial was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Casket bearers were Harold BERGESCH, Marion BERGESCH, Arlie HELMICH, Walter BUENEMAN, Arlie SCHEMMER and Fred VOEPEL.
