Obituary for Alma Christina Karrenbrock (1894-1988)

The Moscow Mills community was saddened Tuesday morning, April 12, 1988 by the passing of one of its oldest and most respected citizens, Miss Alma Christina KARRENBROCK. She was 93 years, 5 months and 29 days of age at the time she departed this life for her eternal home.

She was born October 13, 1894 near Moscow Mills, Mo. the daughter of August and Caroline SCHEMMER KARRENBROCK. She grew up in the Moscow Mills community. When a young girl she assisted in the care of the residents of the Emmaus home at Marthasville, Mo. She left there to become an employee of the Farmers Co-op for over twenty years.

In 1943 she moved from Moscow Mills to St. Louis where she became a seamstress. After retirement, she moved back to Moscow Mills in 1974 and resided in the house next to her beloved church, Friedens United Church of Christ. She was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical faith. When younger she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed attending service, quilting with the ladies of the church and attending the Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of the Moscow Mills Senior Citizens Club.

Preceding Miss Alma in death were her brother, Ed KARRENBROCK and his wife, Elsie and twelve half-brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother, Albert KARRENBROCK and his wife, Annie of Troy, one aunt, Mrs. Alma SCHEMMER of Foristell, who at this time is 102 years of age, several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and innumerable friends.

Funeral services for Miss KARRENBROCK were held April 14, 1988 from Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills. The pastor, the Rev. Dr. John Riggs conducted the ceremony and Mrs. W.L. Meyer was the organist.

Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

Casket bearers were Ernie BUENEMAN, Walter BOSIER, Morris KINDERMAN, Franck GRIESBABER, Frederick GERDIMAN and Cliff ADELHARDT.

Visitation was at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
