DEATH OF MISS PEARL HUMPHREY

Miss Pearl HUMPHREY, foster daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. A. HUMPHREY, of Elsberry, died last Thursday in Central Hospital, St. Louis, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Voss-Fix-Kraeger Funeral home on North Kingshighway and interment was made in Vahalla Cemetery. She was 35 years old.

She was born near the former nursery village of Starksdale, two miles south of Annada. Her name was BROWN, but when a little girl was taken into the home of Mr. and Mrs. HUMPHREY, assuming the Humphrey name. She attended Elsberry elementary and high schools, was an energetic student and graduated with honors.

Following her graduation she took a combined commercial and business course in a commercial college and for years held a responsible secretarial position in St. Louis.

About a year ago her health began to decline, but her condition was not regarded as serious until about two weeks ago when she was removed to Central Hospital for treatment. She failed rapidly and expired late last Thursday afternoon. It is understood she is survived by several brothers and sisters.
