Obituary for Frances Elizabeth Gilmore Humphrey (1914-1973)

            Frances Elizabeth HUMPHREY was born at Troy, Mo., December 14, 1914, the daughter of William and Mae SADRING GILMORE.  She attended the schools of Troy and graduated from Buchanan High School.

            On January 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Delma D. HUMPHREY.   Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Moscow Mills.  Later, she and her husband purchased an elevator business in Moscow Mills and she worked in the family business for several years.  About 5 years ago, she became an employee of the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital where she worked as a dietitian.

            Mrs. HUMPHREY became quite ill at her home on Sunday evening, May 13th.  She passed away in the Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis Wednesday morning, May 16, 1973, at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 2 days.

            Mrs. HUMPHREY was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nell WILMES.  She is survived by her husband, Delma, of their residence; two sons, David and his wife, Dorothy, of Moscow Mills, and John, of College Station, Texas; one brother, William GILMORE and his wife, Clara, of St. Louis; one aunt, Mrs. Eugenia JETER, of Rolla, Mo.; two nephews, Richard WILMES Jr., and Keith GILMORE; two nieces, Candice GILMORE and Rita WILMES; her sister Nell’s husband, Richard WILMES Sr.; her husband’s sister, Miss Elsie HUMPHREY and her husband’s brothers, Charles HUMPHREY and his wife, Othello, and Raymond HUMPHREY; several cousins, other relatives and many friends.

            Mrs. HUMPHREY was a member of the Moscow Mills Christian Church, where she served as pianist.  She was a charter member of the Evangeline and the Elizabeth Wilkinson Federated clubs, and she was a past president of the Lincoln County Women’s Democratic Club and of the Sand Run Extension Club.
