Obituary for Bessie Hudson (1905-1997)

Bessie HUNN HUDSON was born July 1, 1905, at the family home one mile south of Big Creek in Lincoln County.

She graduated from Rock Spring Grade School and Buchanan High School. After attending Warrenton College for three years, she taught school 14 years in Warren, Lincoln and Pike counties.

On April 22, 1945, she and Emory HUDSON were united in marriage and lived on a farm near New Hartford. A son was born to them May 3, 1946 and died the same day.

After her husband’s death Feb. 22, 1978, she made her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Ernest SCHULZE until moving to Troy Nursing and Rehab Center in February, 1985, where she died Oct. 18, 1997 at the age of 92 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son; her parents, George and Rosa TWIEHAUS HUNN; her sister, Ethel SCHULZE; four sisters and one brother who died as infants.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Pauline WILLIS and Julia Belle HOWELL; one brother-in-law, Kenneth GREGORY and a host of cousins.

Father Urban Knoll officiated at the funeral service Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Troy. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
