Obtuary of Dr. HOLMES

------- missing---------was born at Hawk Point, Mo. Feb. 20, 1877 and died January 12, 1914 aged 36 years 10 months and 22 days. He was the son of Chas. A. and Lydia A. HOLMES, his mother having died when he was about tree years old. The training, develoment and education of the boy was carefully looked to by his father and family, passing rapidly through the public school and on through Buchanan College. He then graduated from the School of Osteopathy at Des Moines, Ia.

At about 14 years of age he united with the Troy Christian Church and became an active member. Being called by his bretheren to the Eldership of his church, he yielded and his counsel was valuable in the meeting of the church board. He was married to Miss Alma RICHARDS, August 2nd, 1899. Three children were born to this union; little Lydia Ida, the first born died Nov. 2, 1903, at the age of 3 years 4 months. William and Mary Georgia are the joy and comfort of their mother.

Dr. HOLMES was one of our practical and useful men. His work was as the principle of our public school will stand as one of the monuments to his usefulness. The large gathering of people at his funeral service was an evidence of the esteem in which he was held. The funeral was conducted by the undersigned after which the Odd Fellows took charge and rendered a beautiful burial service at the grave in the Troy cemetery. The mound was covered with evergreens and beautiful flowers, symbolizing the precious memory of him whom we have loved and lost awhile.___ M. D. Dudley
