OBITUARY

William Stephen HILTON passed away in his home in Foley, Mo., on Tuesday, November 5, 1957, at about 7:30 p.m. He had been in ill health for the past four years, and confined to his bed for about two years. He had reached the age of 78 years, 1 month and 20 days.

He was the son of Stephen and Zeorilda OVERALL HILTON, and was born at the farm homestead, near Foley, on September 16, 1879. His entire life was spent in the vicinity of his birth. He followed the occupation of farming during his younger manhood. In the later years of his active life he was engaged in the carpenter's trade.

He was married on July 7, 1908 to Miss Theresa ROBINSON, of Foley. To this union , five children were born: Lucile ( Mrs. Edwin W. BROWN) of Moscow Mills, Mo., Lorene ( Mrs. Richard Dudley BASS) of Janesville, Calif., Edna ( who preceded him in death in 1924), Stevie HILTON, of Litchfield, Calif.,and Peggy ( Mrs. Lawrence E. (Billy) MEHS) of Ellsworth Air Force Base, Rapid City, S. Dak. His oldest daughter, Mrs. Pansy ELLIS, of Quincy, ILL., was by a former marriage to Miss Josephine SITTON.

He is survived by his beloved wife, four daughters and one son; three sons-in-law, Edwin BROWN, Dudley BASS, and Billy MEHS; one daughter-in-law Mrs. Stevie HILTON; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Two other grandchildren preceded him in death; also one brother, Dan HILTON, and one sister, Elizabeth HILTON, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Lou PARKER and Mrs. Ella POTTS. Also surviving are a number of other relatives, and many friends in the Foley Community.

He was not a member of any church, but had expressed his faith in Jesus Christ as his eternal Savior.

Funeral services were conducted from the Ricks Funeral Chapel in Winfield, Friday, November 8th at 2:00 p.m. Rev. J.K.East, officiated. Choristers were Mrs. Wallace Nagle and Mrs. Estelle Ricks.

Donald Callaway, Bill Holmes, Joel Crenshaw, Obie Meadows, John Stonebraker and Boyd Keeton served as pall bearers. Burial was in the Corinth Cemetery near Foley.

Also Grandmother's name was Anna Locretia Robinson Hilton. not Theresa. She was "Trecy" to many. She later md. James Theodore Peterson and she is buried in Buena Vista, Co. beside her oldest daughter, Lucile, ( Mrs. Edwin Brown) and son-in-law, Edwin Brown. jg. ]
