Obituary for Laura Hechler (1891-1910)
Uncited clipping.
From the papers of Mary Omahundro Hutt Walker

Miss Laura HECHLER began this life in the year of 1891, the month of August. She passed hurriedly through the scenes and changes of this mysterious life. She was ours, we claimed her, the church and Sunday School claimed her. For the past six months we had hoped that her illness would prove not serious, though, toward the last it was evident that death was her only relief. On Friday night, Aug. 5, her life, her spirit left a broken and ruined frame and swung out into the eternal world. On Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock a host of friends gathered at her father's house for the funeral. Sister Laura, as I saw her, was a genuine Christian lady - her natural nobility impressed me when , as a stranger, I met her. I would say to her young friends study those qualities that compelled her aquaintances to love her. Can we not take time to look at this forcible example lived among us? First of all, Laura was quiet and even in her manners; not that quietness that seems akin to inability, but the reserve that suggests influence. Her silence was golden. She considered others, and honored them.......rest is missing...
