Obituary for Mrs. John Hasselfeld (1857-1929)
Troy Free Press, Troy, Missouri, March 29, 1929, page 7 column 3.  Transcribed by Rob Taylor.

Martha Carline HASSELFELD (nee MOSLEY) was born October 11, 1857 in Franklin county, Mo., and departed this life Wednesday, March 20, 1929, at 5 p.m., at her home two miles south of Troy, after only a few days illness, of pneumonia and heart trouble, at the age of 71 years, four months and nine days.

She united with the Christian church while young, having her membership at Hawk Point for many years, later transferring it to Troy.  She was united in marriage to John HASSELFELD October 3, 1883. To this union were born eight children, all survive but one (Anne Elizabeth), who died at the age of two years. Those living are: Chas., Allie., Addie (now Mrs. Jess DUNARD), Lillie (now Mrs. Guy STEPANEK), Mary (now Mrs. Paul STEPANEK), Will and Robert, all of Troy. All of the family were at the bedside at the time of her death.

Besides her family she leaves to mourn her departure, ten grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. John CAMPBELL, of Troy. Her life was one consecrated to industry and perseverance, always doing whatsoever her hands found necessary to do. She was kind hearted almost to a fault and a thoughtful, accommodating, indulgent mother, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and trouble.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church Friday afternoon, March 22, by Rev. M.D. DUDLEY, and burial was in the Troy cemetery.
